Sketch book introduction

For unit three I was given free range to choose a topic to base my project on that I found interesting and felt I could do much on. So the choice I made was anatomy, as it's an interesting topic, that I have existing knowledge on the also that I could learn more about, also, it can be interpreted in some variety of ways. It is also a simple topic that can be made complex by the variations of ways you can look at it, for example my first artist, Bill Brandt, looks at aspects of the human body, for example in some pictures he focuses on fingers that look/ appear to be rocks or mountains, this is an interesting idea, and one that I will be taking into consideration. My second artist is Da Vinci, who focuses more on the science side, producing drawings of skeletons, the muscles, and then more scientific discoveries like the first ever image of a foetus inside a womb.
I will also be looking at a range of media's for example; dslr camera's, black and white film cameras, colour film cameras, and video cameras. I will go on to develop the different media's I will be testing, using a range of techniques, by trying variations of different papers, and different forms of printing, I will also use photo shop to develop images, and test what effects look better.
For final pieces I have a range of ideas, but nothing direct. My main idea is to look into different systems of the (body, skeletal, organ, muscle). I will do this by either drawing these systems on to a body, and creating the drawing effect by using a stop motion video, or just show them as a large image on body cut out. However I have also been looking into how people see themselves, specifically how they feel in their bodies, so using this my other possibility for a final piece is to look at people's insecurities, and again make these into large cut outs of a body.
